Position Overview

The Ground Systems Engineer supports real-time payload operations and provides Level 2 ground system, communications/cryptographic planning and payload anomaly support for the Enhanced Polar System Control and Planning Segment (EPS-CAPS) sustainment mission operations at Schriever Space Force Base, CO providing space-enabled, secure communications capabilities to polar users in support of national objectives. EPS CAPS provides telemetry and control, mission planning and cryptographic planning for the EPS payload.

Primary Responsibilities

1)Maximize quality of service and uptime requirements and to provide expertise in troubleshooting of operational ground system anomalies

2)Provide mission training and certification support to operations personnel and to perform payload telemetry trending and analysis pertaining to EPS CAPS mission operations

3)Support custom software testing and evaluation, Engineering Change and Software Configuration Control Boards covering hardware and software deployed over three geographic locations

4)Coordinate and assists program system administrators and software developers with software deployments to minimize downtime to operations

5)Perform ground system performance monitoring and diagnostics, operational procedure and CONOPS development and supports real-world operations personnel

6)Provide periodic on-call 24/7 support for operations

7)Support communications and cryptologic planning functions in support of EPS CAPS mission

Minimum Qualifications

- Knowledgeable in log file analysis and telemetry trending/analysis

- Experience in troubleshooting of satellite/payload ground systems, providing impact assessments for operations

- Ability to effectively communicate and simplify technically complex issues

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in hardware and software testing and implementation of HW/SW configurations in a flight operations environment

- Real-time ground systems operations experience for GEO/HEO and LEO spacecraft or payloads

- Coordination, deconfliction and short term Mission Planning experience is a plus

- Configuration/troubleshooting experience with Tracking Telemetry & Control (TT&C) equipment

- Proficient in training and in the certification process of operations personnel

- Experience in space vehicle/payload anomaly response processes

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline

4 years of technically related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
