Mission Integration Engineer / Associate Systems Engineer [2022-02]

The Obscura, Mission Integration, and Network-Common Support (OMINS) contract encompasses a full complement of engineering and technical activities necessary to provide 22 SOPS with Satellite Operation Centers (SOC) -to- Satellite Control Network (SCN) -to- Satellite mission integration and troubleshooting support. Support will be provided to new and existing satellite programs (for both internal and external users), multiple system modifications and upgrades, new and existing remote tracking stations, and operational complexes, as well as technical and management support for SCN Obscura and Network-common data. The SCN includes multiple types of antennas at multiple sites around the world, communications and scheduling nodes, transportable assets, and associated communication links.



Summary of Responsibilities:

This role will provide technical expertise, to include unique SCN configuration and knowledge of satellite program Command and Control (C2), Remote Tracking Station (RTS), and Communication Systems’ user and development communities. In-addition to the following support items, this role will focus on requirements and document reviews:

• Maintain contact with the user and development communities to ensure mutual understanding of the unique satellite mission operational requirements

• Monitor and evaluate system testing to ensure overall network integration has been tested to meet mission requirements

• Provide support as a technical/operational RTS, communication, and external user contact for the SOC to include RTS Inter-Range Operations Number (IRON) Database (DB) inputs and reviews

• Provide engineering expertise to identify and resolve SCN satellite support problems, including developing and performing special tests to help isolate and solve them. Assist RTS and Communication personnel and external users when necessary to isolate their problems.

• Track and provide inputs on SCN related launch/test critical Change Request Forms (CRF) and modifications

• Coordinate schedules and configurations with launch/test agencies

• Identify operational impacts of new mission requirements and network support limitations

• Provide technical insight of SCN and launch base activities during rehearsals and Launch and Early Orbit (L&EO) to aid crew understanding of these infrequent critical events

• Provide in-room pre-launch and launch support


Bachelor's degree in technical engineering field. Significant, directly applicable SCN experience without a degree will be considered.

2-5+ years. Previous experience with SCN and Air Force satellite programs is highly desired.
